Yarn

Well, I sit in my office with the ceiling fan spinning on a beautiful spring night in late November. Is that you, global warming? I talked to my mom this evening as a snow storm rushed in on the Midwest. She said it was beautiful this morning and that she even had the doors open to let the beautiful day inside. But not tonight!

I am surrounded by my latest obsession. Yarn. I learned how to crochet last fall, and started learning how to knit about a month ago. I love to peruse the yarn section of the hobby shops. I hold one skein against another to find colors that look good together, and I like to touch the soft-looking yarns against my cheek when no one's looking. Right now I am in the middle of about 14 projects. I like to move from one to another - different yarn, different colors, different patterns and all different stitches. I made a scarf for Hubby's sister over Thanksgiving and gave it to her then. She liked the color of the yarn when she saw it so of course I had to make her something with it! It goes with her winter coat.

Hey! You're back!

Knitting is cool, and it seems to be all the rage these days. I see undergrad girls with their knitting bags in the coffeeshops near campus pretty often. I don't know if it's a widespread thing, or if it's just because it's so freaking cold here. Brrr.

My mom made me one of these a couple of years ago. I love it.

Does Dan know you refer to him as "Hubby"?

I crocheted this multi colored earth tone throw through nursing school. Granny squares. about a square or two per lecture. it's how I quit smoking and now it's how I stay warm. For any patients that may read this, do not be alarmed...it's how I also stayed awake enough to listen while they droned on and on over stuff I've studied since I was 8. I'm currently trying to keep up with making baby Luke a midnight blue blankie with a spider stitch trim in white. When my cats try to "help" I just bop them on the heads with the skein. works to dissuade Joe baby too otherwise I'd never get anything accomplished. congrats on finding your yarn joy!!!

Wow, Mike, that scarf's really cool. I'm going to make on some day - after I learn how to do cables. :)
